What is Barcode??

Our Mission

To establish an open innovation hub for the Caribbean, where we invite technology professionals to connect with industry experts (in areas such as healthcare, retail, tourism, construction, etc) to transform ideas from concept to commercialization in order to create indigenous solutions that can scale globally.

History

Barcode began as a passion project to host in-person spaces for software developers to learn from each other and collaborate on social projects. During the COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant social distancing, Barcode evolved into a Whatsapp group of 200+ technology professionals from the Caribbean and its diaspora.

Barcode is now evolving yet again to focus on spurring open innovation and digital transformation which are both key activities necessary to spur the development of the Caribbean economies. As part of our evolution, we seek to answer a few key questions:

  • What barriers do Caribbean businesses face as they embrace Digital Transformation ?
  • How can the Caribbean leverage its diaspora as a resource to create opportunities for its people?
  • What policies are necessary for Governments to better facilitate the development of international businesses originating from within the Caribbean ?

Community rules

It takes a community to build a community. Here are some ways that you can get involved:

  • Be encouraging and inclusive to other community members
  • Volunteer as an Event Organizer or Coordinator
  • Show up and support each other!
